“The picturesque small town of Mukdahan has its own bus station, which is situated west of town. Air-conditioned buses to Mukdahan from Bangkok’s northern terminal (Mochit) depart frequently. Located on the banks of the Mekong River, Mukdahan is one of the most important border posts with Laos. From Mukdahan, 12 daily buses follow routes across the bridge to the city of Savannakhet in Laos.
The lively market of Mukdahan boasts numerous stalls selling a wide range of Laotian products. After sunset tourists can have an atmospheric dinner on the boulevard. The small Phu Pha Thep National Park is 50 kilometres from Mukdahan and its mushroom-shaped rocks are one of the park’s main attractions.”
