“Although Amnat Charoen is a laid-back and small Isaan town, it has several noteworthy visitor attractions. Those visiting Amnat Charoen can conveniently stroll around town while exploring the tranquil rice paddies, sacred Buddha statues, rocky rapids, and colourful fruit orchards.
The bus station of Amnat Charoen is served by daily services that depart from Bangkok’s Mochit 2 bus terminal. It takes about eight hours to cover the distance between Bangkok and Amnat Charoen by bus. The town’s bus terminal is situated a few kilometres north of the downtown area, off Highway 212 that follows the route to Mukdahan. Motorcycle taxis are on hand to transport passengers to the town centre.
One of the tourist attractions worthwhile visiting here is the Phuttha Utthayan Reservoir, located within less than three kilometres from town. This spacious reservoir offers some stunning vistas and is a rewarding destination to visit; there are food shops and resort amenities scattered all around.
Housing a large monkey population, Don Chao Pu Forest Park located near Amphoe Phana is a lush forest with numerous sorts of trees that are more than a century old. Constructed in an authentic northeastern architectural style, the historic Wat Phra Lao Thep Nimit is located within a short drive on Highway 2049.”
