Phatthalung

“Phatthalung is a city in southern Thailand between Trang, Hat Yai and Nakhon Si Thammarat, around 860kms from Bangkok; it houses a mid-sized bus station. Air-conditioned buses depart from the Southern Terminal, Bangkok to Phatthalung numerous times in the morning and evening and the journey takes around 10 to 11 hours.

Thailand’s Southern railway makes it possible to take a train to Phatthalung, with the railway station sitting at the east end of the city. An airport in Trang also makes flying to the city easy, taking a taxi or local bus to Phatthalung from the airport or into Trang city, where local buses make the transfer.

Phatthalung’s bus station is a typical Thai bus terminus at the north end of the city off of Highway 41 near the post office and Tesco Lotus. It has a covered but open waiting area, ticket offices, an ATM and snacks vendors. Buses are sometimes fully booked, so it is recommended to book online in advance.

There are quite a few attractions in Phatthalung, including Wat Tham Khuha Sawan, Thale Noi Waterfowl Reserve, Khao Chaison Hot Spring and Khao Pu Khao Ya National Park. Sleeping in Phatthalung is easy as there are a number of places to stay, including the Holiday or Rose Garden hotels and Pa Sawan Resort.”
